This is a wonderful layout of an expansive educational model. Other very important skills are foraging for food, knowing how to make fire, water purification, the theory of money, quality consensus systems. I'm sure there are more. This blueprint deserves expansion because it's always good to have other minds build the blueprint. I would like to see another school model entirely, where schools provide structured learning for young ones but are also open for adults to study by holding classes at times that students and teachers choose. And schools could be open till midnight for people including teens, to take subjects that suit them. This is easy to do now that we have computers - no need for any human administration. Let's simply be free. Just report results and data. I would remove the word "citizen" as well. Schools should be open places. This type of learning will go a long way in restructuring the mind of humans and laying down foundations that are conducive to peace and freedom because it would be fulfilling. And the culture itself has to also change and move with the times.

You are correct. It's just a base model I am "putting into the Universe," maybe some will take the idea, build upon it and make it work? Let's hope.

I think it's excellent that you have done this work and "put it out there". It's so needed and so overdue! Thank you Jean-Baptiste!

No thank you Denise for reading. Your input is wonderful....I'm going to a survivalist, naturalist, self sustaining educational model next. Thanks for the inspiration friend. Stay tuned.

Like your program, I bet the students would love it.

We have to think ahead. We have to give the future a real chance and we can't do that with the current school model. it has failed.

My husband grew up with no electricity on a farm in the far north, attended a one room school house, and graduated with honors from a University CPA program. He put himself through with highway construction and mine work. Fixing frozen slurry pipes in -60F blizzards. He was largely self taught. The modern education system almost destroyed our kids, until they learned to be independent from it.

Good for him.............and you...............and your family. Now is not the time to have a sissy for a man.

I have a deep, deep disgust for the current education system, even though my brother, mother and grandparents were teachers. Of course we are talking about a long time ago when the system was less controlling. My mother just passed at 101 years!

God rest her soul. Its not education, its victimization. 150 years and we still have poverty, racism and all the other "stuff" that one would think would be educated away. It has to change. There is no choice at this point.

Step one is to understand that schooling is not synonymous with education, and that we need to quit legitimizing mere training and brainwashing by labelling it "education."

One does not become educated in school. Nowadays schools, in fact, retard ones' education, and that seems to be one of their main purposes. Even the best of schooling is only a tiny fraction of what constitutes education.

Jean-Baptiste Guillory's avatar

That's why the foundation has to change.

Fabulous work here, and I would 100% support this model. Only thing I’d add to the writing curriculum is to specify cursive writing, only because it’s my personal pet peeve that young people these days do not acquire and accomplish this skill.

Makes me crazy when they say it’s easier than cursive. Yet when I say it seems less efficient when they print and have to constantly lift their writing tool to write, they flubber and fumble their responses. Yeesh.

Jean-Baptiste Guillory's avatar

It's just a base model. I am sure the professions can make it work. You are correct they cant read of write cursive. add that. Thanks for reading

I don’t know if you have seen what so called professional cuz your base model is better than 99% of pro models just my opinion you can do as good if not better

Jean-Baptiste Guillory's avatar

Thanks. I try. I really want to see people succeed.

I can tell and my wife finished your article for me yesterday at the eye doctor and she said she liked your article and she went to school for education so she knows how bad it is cuz they are training evil people to teach our children

So, you would NOT spend incredible amounts of time counting and sorting the different ethnicities and genders?

Jean-Baptiste Guillory's avatar

Absolutely not.....none of that matters. It's about building an intellectual base of productive people with the means to support themselves and society in a positive way.
