“Ground down” just might be much attributable to LH dominance.

(Among other imbalances.)

“Get out of your head” might mean more try & stop spending so much time in the left hemisphere. Easy to say.

Katana … silly-fun movie distillation still points to a point (& its not that tom cruise can go from dissolute ptsd drunk to samurai in short order). “No mind” isn’t no mind - it’s RH “flow”:

Hang Two (that sums to Ten, but not 5+5, not equal halves) Hang Dai:

My honey is a fan of the show Deadwood, which used to be on HBO. There is a Chinese character who is in league with another character on the show, and to express their partnership, they used the phrase "hang dai" (this is the best English phonetic approximation I can come up with -dai sounds like "die" to my American ears). In the context of the show, it seems to indicate a close partnership between the two. My honey used to laugh and say that we were "hang dai," i.e. like-minded partners. For Valentine's Day, I would like to give him a gift of engraved cufflinks with Chinese characters that express this; unfortunately, I do not know Chinese. I don't even know if the phrase has any actual meaning in any Chinese dialect, but it has meaning to us, so if anyone can help me, I would be most appreciative :)

From the sound of it, I think it could be the Cantonese phrase for (not Mandarin Chinese pronunciation wise) 兄弟, pronounce like "hayng dai (not the proper romanization of course)" meaning "brothers" in its literal and intimate sense, and to some extend "brethren". The term is made up of 兄(older brother) and 弟(younger brother), so it wouldn't be entirely suitable for expressing this partnership between a woman and a man who are romantically attached to each other. But there's really no harm to it, especially if it has a special meaning between the two of you, why not?

If there's a "older brother, younger brother", then there's got to be a similar term for every gender pairing ya?

兄妹 - Older brother, younger sister.

San Francisco **** suckers!!!

Brothers (siblings). In arms. And in everything else.

“The Brothers’ War” aka “the civil war.”

All are brothers’ wars, no matter what the relatives call it.

Hang together, you two, to minimize hanging single gallows separately, or multiple gallows, gang gallows, together.

I like your stuff but most of it goes over my head. I really want to believe the 'lesson' theory here. Truly I do, but I think Idc anymore I just want to NOT COME BACK HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

That may be true, but in the mean time..........................?

Thanks, Sotogirl.

I want to read McGilchrist’s books. Fat volumes, pretty expensive, I haven’t got round to it, yet. One has told me that the books aren’t strictly necessary, since/because plenty of videos of McGilchrist talking on YouTube, etc cover the subject matter well enough - which is good, too - but I like books.

His emphasized distinctions & should-be order of priority…

(but isn’t, at least in “the west” & it’s emulators … China? Russia? Unless one/both the latters are generally strong in both hemispheres - more balanced, but just giving “the west” what it understands/needs … & maybe enough rope to hang itself)

… of the brain’s Master-Emissary hemispheres strikes me accurate & descriptive of some of my corroborating experience/s …

… And, the RH flow (as versus the LH compulsion to control) I would say shows up in how I write, too. Which doesn’t always make it easiest reading by others. But it serves my purposes.

I think default settings/ways of looking, seeing, saying/describing are overbuilt to become rules of thumb, stereotypes, mnemonic devices, algorithms, short cuts, conveniences, habits, patterns, ruts, grooves, straightjackets, splints, crutches, speed limits … “too many minds” trying to reduce too many things to fit into, conform with, too little LH bandwidth to actually track everything. It’s like The Bed of Procrustes. Force-fitting puzzle pieces.

People also worry about appearances, of not fitting in the puzzle their piece has typically been mashed-to-fit into.

I didn’t always write this way, of course. “Educators” frowned on it.

I had “tennis elbow” once.

From work, not tennis.

A doctor said the only fix was surgical. Surgeries are hardly ever fixes.

But I happened to cross paths with a very good massage therapist who solved the problem, in short order, with soft tissue manipulation & the assignment of exercises to strengthen the weak-side musculature.

See muscle pairs/sets work in opposition to each other. Its a competition (which is cooperation … not as paradoxical as it might sound).

If you see a guy whose hands don’t hang straight down at his sides with thumbs pointed parallel his legs but instead thumbs twisted inward & pointed perpendicular to his legs (so back of his hands parallel to his legs … like how an ape’s arms hang, or Popeye arms), like this

https://d3f1iyfxxz8i1e.cloudfront.net/courses/course_image/51b9641fd19d.jpeg

its because one side of his forearms are too over-developed & the other side is too under-developed.

Repetitive use (that leads to over/under-development) of an imbalance like that can, often does, lead to tendon troubles, like my “tennis elbows.”

Matthias Schlitte has weird genetics that gave him one hugely over-developed arm (like a stone crab - one huge dominant claw, one smaller subordinate claw):

If LH dominance/imbalance is a culprit in the “grinding down” I wonder if maybe doing more with the non-dominant hand (left for most people) could help even things out.

Maybe the book Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain could help:

https://goodreads.com/book/show/12430443-drawing-on-the-right-side-of-the-brain

Imbalance. Use it or lose it. Use it partially, or too partially, or too exclusively & break it, or lose it.

(Goldilocks & her perfected stolen porridge crime. Timothy Treadwell experienced the balance snap-back, too. So ... Goldilocks without the criminality, or Treadwell without the grandiosity ... maybe better?))

Mere passage of time shows its love by the gift of muscle mass loss, atrophy. Look at symmetry-devotion of younger Schwarzenegger then & older him now.

Balance is better. But a bit of imbalance in the direction of RH might be better still.

Sleep. A common imbalance for sure. And a deprivation-imbalance that grinds a body down.

I have been eyeballing this for a long time (for other issues related to atrophy, possibly) (how many people exercise their necks at all, let alone in a way/s that aligns with normal neck movement?):

https://www.iron-neck.com/

I think a theory of merit, worth some experimentation, before most any other sleep “remedies” are tried, might be strengthening the neck. Apnea/snoring as a musculature-atrophy symptom, a structural imbalance/collapse situation.

And who knows what regaining balance in the neck might do for vestibular/balance & so for falls prevention or minimization in older folks, or defensive preservation-maintenance against falls, later, in younger people.

I’d say “running a place,” or running cattle, is about self-interest, not benevolence, let alone benevolent self-interest.

And the more LH that running is, becomes - as it cycles up & down - the worse the environment is degraded.

And that since forever has there been the plague of place-runners, so since forever has the species been running in place … all that varies is how fast the treadmill is spinning.

Ideally lessons are taken, learned, so as to get beyond lessons.

Some musicians, prodigies of perfect pitch & melody memory skip over learning to read music, go straight to the sound, first reproducing others’ sound, then going further & producing their own.

That’s all its about. Human condition is not an equation-puzzle to be solved. It just is.

But the one error I do see implicit in education models that would seek to redress or ameliorate human conditions is the non-recognition that teachers must be students ~ curiosity, not syllabus/tedness ~ & that curious student-teachers are not widely/commonly/uniformly distributed, are in fact rare.

Sitting in classrooms does not magically confer student, or teacher, on anyone … either you already are, or you never will be … & the latter outnumber the former by enormous margins - which is why teachers unions & the silver lining brochures about “go west young wo/man” & get educated!

I am reading this at 4 AM after waking 2 hours ago because I cannot sleep, thinking about all sorts of issues, especially related to my family.

Sucks.

Get some magnesium tablets. Take a couple an hour or so before bed. They will help relax you, or even eat some bread or pasta...lol. No. If your blood sugar is spiking up and down, it will lower itself around that time, 2-3 am, and your body will release cortisol and that will awaken you. If you are having blood sugar issues, cinnamon, and honey are your friend. I teaspoon cinnamon and enough honey to make it into a slight paste. 1/2 - 1 teaspoon. 3x a day. If you drink sodas or juice, do so in moderation or never. Hope this helps.

This place is not run by benevolence in any way. Why would we believe we are here to learn anything. I think that is another psyop to keep us continuing the search for something good out of the hell of planet earth. Everyone wants to see the silver lining. Even if it exists. Which it doesn't. I don't care about seeing that either. Please show me some data if there is any to be found. Actually I don't care if it exists because this is hell and I don't care to learn the lesson of hell. I bet if someone made this world into a board game like monopoly or scrabble no one would buy it cuz it is fucking dumb. Just imagine observing this train wreck from above the earth. Would you pull over to 'help'??? HELL NO!!! I wouldn't even rubberneck this shit show. I would cover my eyes, step on the accelerator and NEVER LOOK BACK!!!!!! Tell me I'm wrong.
